Lake Wallenpaupack was built in 1927 when the Pennsylvania Power and Light Company damned Wallenpaupack Creek for Hydroelectric power. The 5,700-acre (2,306 ha) lake features 52 mi (83.7 km) of shoreline and six recreation areas.
Wallenpaupack Creek
Located in the heart of the Pocono Mountains, Wallenpaupack Creek and its tributaries feed Lake Wallenpaupack. In the 1970s the whole watershed was designated a High Quality Water Basin and is protected by the Lake Wallenpaupack Watershed Association.
