    Located adjacent to the High School off of West Main Street, this park contains many recreational facilities. A new playground has been added and the pool has been remodeled to include a heating pool, diving tank, new slides and an upgrade to the bath house. Fishing is accessible from the park.

    Monroe County Environmental Education Center

    Promised Land State Park

    Promised Land State Park is about 3,000 acres (1,214 ha) in size and surrounded by 12,464 acres (5,044 ha) of the Delaware State Forest. The park features two lakes with several small streams and year-round recreation possibilities such as fishing, hiking, biking, boating, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. Access to the park is gained by PA Routes 84 and 390, south of Lake Wallenpaupack.

    Resica Falls Scout Reservation

    Located north of East Stroudsburg, Resica Falls Reserve is home to two Scout camps—Camp Firestone and Camp Big Springs— and some amazing scenery. With over 50 years of scouting in the reserve the area is a busy camping area year round.

    Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area

    Delaware State Forest

    Spanning 80,056 acres (32,397 ha), and encompassing more than 100 mi (161 km) of trails, over 5,000 acres (2,023 ha) of natural areas, and several beautiful vistas, the Delaware State Forest offers many recreational opportunities including three trails for ATV's. West of Milford, access to the forest can be gained from Routes 84, 739 and 402.

    Big Pocono State Park

    Located on the summit and slopes of Camelback Mountain, this 1,306 acre (529 ha) park features rugged terrain and magnificent views of eastern Pennsylvania and portions of New Jersey and New York. Picnicking, hiking, hunting and horseback riding are accessible in the park. Roads that provide access to the park are Singer Ave., off I-80, from the east and Deep Lake Rd. from the west.

    George W. Childs Recreation Site

    Childs Recreation Site was formerly a state park, and features Dingmans Creek and its several waterfalls, including the second highest waterfall in the state. History runs deep here. Prior to steam and gas engines the stream was used as a source of energy. A 1.5 mi (2.4 km) round-trip along Dingmans Creek will pass three waterfalls as well as the ruins of a 19th century mill.

    The Peony Fancier Gardens

    Created by Chella and Leon Garry, these gardens feature over 10,000 peonies planted with 57 varieties. During the month of June the gardens are open to the public for viewing, photographing and tours. Peony plants and flowers are available for purchase along with dried perennials, wreaths, baskets and topiaries from the Peony Garden Store.

    Beltzville State Park

    Developed around the Beltzville Dam, this park features 2,972 acres (1,203 ha) of recreational area with a 949 acre (384 ha) lake in the center. In the summer, activities such as camping, swimming, boating, fishing and hiking are popular while cross-country skiing and ice-fishing are available in the winter. Entrance to the park is gained from I-476 and Rt. 209.

    Prompton State Park

    Just west of the historic town of Honesdale, this multi-use recreational area covers more than 2,000 acres (809 ha) of woodlands. The park features 30+ mi (48+ km) of trails and a 300 acre (121 ha) lake. Access to the park is provided by Creek Dr. north of the city of Prompton.

    Beech House Creek Wildlife Refuge
    Located next to Shuman Point Natural Area, this 60-acre (24.2 ha) wildlife refuge is home to beaver, mallards and wood ducks, blue heron, hawks, mink, raccoons otters and more. It is possible to explore these wetlands though no trail has been designated.

    This scenic park contains part of the historic D&L Trail as it follows 165 mi (265 km) of historic canal towpaths and rail lines that were used to transport anthracite coal from mine to market. The park is a treat for history buffs as well as walkers, hikers and bicyclists.
